Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide traps heat in earth’s atmosphere which leads to climate change and global warming. Primary emissions of greenhouse gases are from burning fuels for energy and also from fossil fuel consumption.

How do fossil fuels contribute to greenhouse gas emissions?

Burning fossil fuels happens in power plants. They are burnt in the prescence of oxygen and its main products are water and carbon dioxide. Its thermal energy is converted to other forms of energy such as crude oil, natural gas and water.

However, the carbon dioxide produced during the burning of fossil fuels has negative impacts on the environment : Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas that is a primary driver of global greenhouse gas emissions. It warms the environment which leads to severe climate change and over consumption of fossil fuels will affect our future generations.
